2023 Top Wedding Trends

Viva Magenta. Did you hear about the color of the year for 2023? Patone is the keyholder of color selection each year and they just released this new bold and vibrant color for next year.

What do we know about viva magenta? It’s actual color code is 18-1750. It is a shade comes from the red family. Patone describes it as "a color that “vibrates with vim and vigor… a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.”

They add that “this year’s Color of the Year is powerful and empowering.” and I could not have said it better. The cool part about Patone selecting their color of the year, is it get’s everyone else talking about what else is predicted to be a hit for next year. So of course we had to hop on the train and tell you what we predict some hot 2023 wedding trends to be.

1.The Slit - As we follow wedding trends we also follow bridal fashion trends and they are bringing sexy back with the thigh-high slit. We are seeing them more and more.

2. Destination Weddings - We LOVE destination weddings. We are hearing from other planners and experiencing more of our own couples planning for a destination wedding. Many times its to a location in which the couple has visited and has great memories or a place they have always wanted to visit. The best part about a destination wedding is it allows your guests to make it into a vacation, if they choose. (Fun Fact: we actually are doing a destination wedding at this venue pictured below in the Summer of 2023)

3. Bold Colors - I’m sure the Viva Magenta color of the year by Patone said it all. But that’s not where it stops, we expect to see lots of couples making a statement with their color palette alone. Vogue predicts that we will see lots of pink and blue shades. We are always open to making a statement with color, whether it be a pop or color or a saturation of color, give us the challenge so we can create a design that speaks to you yet still remains luxury, timeless and elegant.

4. Candid’s and Night Flash Photos - More and more we are seeing couples want to capture organic moments. They still want some posed images, but they also want their story told in the most authentic way when being documented. We are also seeing many couples moving away from sunset photos to late night photos with the flash on. This is super cute, fun and honestly very romantic.

5. Wedding Weekends - Oh, this is a big one. In the past reserving an entire weekend for a wedding has always been more of a cultural tradition but lately many couples are doing it. It truly allows the couple to maximize the time they have with their guests. The other thing is it allows couple to do is to truly be present with each other and their emotions and take it all in on wedding day. It’s no longer a rush to greet every single person during the reception because you have the entire weekend to make your rounds.

6. Statement Pieces - Our clients have always been know to make a statement. Sometimes it’s with the centerpieces, other times it’s a ceiling treatment over the dance floor. We’ve also made statements with the food experience, beverage stations or even a specialty area like a cigar lounge or photo station.

7. Big Party - This falls in line with #5 (wedding weekends). Not only are couples wanting to truly be present with each other on the wedding day, they also want it to be fun. There is a lot of work that goes into planning a wedding and they want the party to be a reflection of all that hard work. Once the ceremony is over and dinner and dancing begin, it’s time to get the party jumping.

8. Large Wedding Parties - Whew, chile this one is stressing me out. But I get it! Some of us come from big families and others of us just have a larger circle, either way I understand the importance of making sure you don’t walk down the aisle without those who mean the most to you. Disclaimer: 22 bridesmaids is too many and the answer is no lol.

9. No Children - This is one that comes an goes but in 2023 I think it’s a no go. Children are great, no one is denying that. They’re cute and make for some of the funniest and most memorable photos you may have. However, It’s a factor that people are considering when looking at guest count, when thinking about the atmosphere there want to create. They’re also considering the experience not just for them and guests without children but for those parents. Think about #7 (big party) they want parents to be able to be a part of that big party without having to run after their children all night. So expect to get more invites that do not include children.

10. The Extended Honeymoon - We are seeing more and more of our couple take one of a kind honeymoon to their favorite international destination and stay for 10-14 days. The average honeymoon used to last 5-7 days and we are starting to see that double. We are here for all of this! Honeymoon as long as you can and soak up all of that wedding bliss.

These are not in any particular order but simply some of the trends that we have started to see or predict to see along with input from other planners and wedding platforms.

Feel free to reach out and let us know of any trends you hope to see in 2023.
